The main targets of the project funded by the Kingdom of the Netherlands were to support local communities on Solid Waste Issues, through the construction of additional landfill capacity at the Bar Elias SWM facilities; the closure of the Hazzerta uncontrolled dumpsite; the construction and equipping of a storage facility for the Qaraoun Lake Union of Municipalities in West Bekaa; the construction of ISWM facilities in North Baalbek to serve a consortium of nine municipalities; the rehabilitation of Ghazzeh dumpsite through the construction of two engineered sanitary cells with leachate and gas management; Awareness campaign for local communities and training on solid waste management; provide direction and guidance for the project teams in order to ensure smooth/successful implementation of the various projects’ activities.
